A couple of years ago I set myself a long-term project to take a set of photographs of the River Dee from its source in the Cairngorms to where it meets the sea at Aberdeen. I had an idea of creating a photobook showing the river as it progressed from the Highlands, through the agricultural lowlands of Aberdeenshire to the suburbs of Aberdeen and the city itself.
This has been done in between lots of other things so it’s still going on. I have never managed to get good weather in the Lairig Ghru when I tried to get to the source on Braeriach and the snowless winters of the last couple of years have meant that I’m still missing a few planned winter shots around the Linn of Dee and Glen Dee.
I’m not sure when or if I will ever get this project finished but here are some photos so far. Click on any image to start the slideshow.
