Autumn in Scotland

Autumn is the most colourful season and, like most outdoor photographers, I love to get out to photograph the landscape at that time of year. Obviously the landscapes are beautiful but I also like to look at a smaller scale for autumn details.

Most of the images here were taken close to my home in Aberdeenshire with a couple on visits to the Highlands.

river-faskally — Oak leaves. Taken in the ancient oak wood at Drum castle. The local village is Drumoak so I guess it extended to there at one time.

river-faskally — Acorns - the colours in autumn draw our eyes upwards but there's also colour on the forest floor.

river-faskally — Although fungi can fruit in summer, they are most prolific in early autumn. This tree is in a wee wood I often walk through and one day, it simply sprouted all these fungi.

river-faskally — I love the light on this single birch tree that picks it out against the dark green on the conifers behind it.
